The Behavioural Medicine Institute of Australia (BMIA) was established
in 1996 by Marek Jantos, to promote and provide non-pharmacological,
conservative therapeutic options to patients, clinicians and institutions
in Australia. This goal is being successfully implemented through
direct services to patients, through the provision of training opportunities
to clinicians, academic facilities and health care institutions. To
facilitate in the establishment of centres providing therapeutic interventions
based on behavioural medicine principles, the BMIA provides the best
available equipment and accessories in Biofeedback and Physiological
Monitoring. In addition the institute provides extensive literature
resources through its published catalogues, enabling access to the
latest publications.
Through this website the Institute
has also endeavoured to assist its visitors to find many relevant
links with other information resources, clinics and agencies relevant
to the field of behavioural medicine and biofeedback.
As an experienced specialist in
the field of Psychophysiology, Marek Jantos
not only provides training but also clinical services to patients
in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. He specialises in the field of
stress and anxiety disorders and chronic pain management. In recent
years he has researched and published extensively in women’s health
issues, with a particular focus on the diagnosis and treatment of
gynaecological pain. In cooperation with other specialists, Marek
Jantos has been the first in Australia to provide biofeedback-assisted
therapy to women suffering with vulvodynia and other chronic pelvic
